"Help Haiti's new Muslim children read the Qur'an, pray and make wudu after dark"
New Muslims in a Country Without Power
In the Nippes region of Haiti, more than 120 children have embraced Islam. Many of them are the first Muslims in their families, and our student home is the only place where they can learn their new faith, pray together and grow up within a Muslim community.
But they live in one of the hardest countries in the world. Haiti has had no elected president since 2021, and political turmoil and insecurity have left basic public services in collapse. Fewer than half of Haitians have access to electricity, and even where the national grid exists, power is unreliable or absent for days at a time.
Reading the Qur'an by Flashlight
Our student home depends on a small solar setup, but there are not enough panels and batteries to store the energy we need. About one hour after sunset, the electricity goes out completely.
For children who are just beginning their journey in Islam, the evening is precious. It is when they memorize their first surahs, learn how to pray and study for school. Instead, they read the Qur'an by flashlight and pray Isha in the dark. The whole building stays dark until morning.
No Power, No Water for Wudu
Our water pump runs on electricity, so when the power goes out, the water stops too.
Every evening, our revert students are left without running water to make wudu for Isha and Fajr, to wash or to use the toilets. For new Muslims who are still learning to love their prayers, not having water for wudu is a heartbreaking obstacle.
The Solution: A $6,000 Solar System
A complete new solar system with additional panels, batteries and installation costs $6,000. Once installed, it will:
Keep the lights on so our revert students can study, read the Qur'an and pray after dark
Power the water pump so water for wudu is available for Isha and Fajr
Make the home safer at night
Provide free, clean energy for many years with no fuel costs
A Lasting Charity (Sadaqah Jariyah)
Every verse a revert child reads under its light, every wudu made with water from its pump and every prayer performed in a lit room becomes a continuous reward for you.
You are not only providing electricity. You are helping new Muslims hold on to their faith in one of the hardest places on earth, for years to come.
See Your Impact
We will share photos and videos of the installation and of our students using the new system, so you can see the difference your donation makes, from the first panel to the first evening with the lights still on.
